Eddy Lee, PhD, principal at Fenox Venture Capital, delivered a keynote presentation on how to build a startup at the NTC Silicon Valley Entrepreneurship Forum.
 
The Consul-General Chin Hock Seng of Singapore to San Francisco graced the event with the opening address, following with Mr. Yaw Shin Yeo from the Infocomm Investments sharing his views on the technological trends in the Silicon Valley, and the opportunities ahead for Asia.
 
Mr. Yeo’s overview of the industry sets the ground for Eddy’s presentation on practical approaches to a successful startup. He shared his insights on ways of finding a good business idea, how to build a strong team, as well as provided useful tips for entrepreneurs on fundraising from investors and the importance of an effective demo. His resourceful speech, peppered with plenty of startup anecdotes entertained the audience; he shared famous examples along the likes of Instagram, as well as examples from Fenox’s portfolio companies, such as gTar.
 
The forum was jointly held by Nanyang Technological University (NTU), NTU Alumni Association-USA West Coast Chapter, and Nanyang Technopreneurship Center (NTC) for the second year in a row. The event is part of the platform for budding entrepreneurs from NTC’s Master of Science Technopreneurship & Innovation Program to interact with entrepreneurs and industry professionals.
