IMJ Fenox, a joint venture between IMJ Corporation and Fenox Venture Capital conducted the inaugural “Global Entrepreneurship Workshop” in Jakarta, Indonesia, as part of its efforts to engage entrepreneurs in the region.
Anis Uzzaman, Ph.D, General Partner at Fenox VC, delivered a keynote speech entitled “Building a Successful Startup: Best Practices for Fast Track Growth.” Anis highlighted the essential steps to growing a startup and obtaining funding from the perspective of a Silicon Valley venture capitalist. Various methods adopted by leading startups in the Silicon Valley were cited as examples. Several suggestions for achieving customer acquisition, product development and building a cohesive team were also provided to the audience.
“Indonesia is a vibrant environment for startups in part due to the macroeconomic factors and its growing consumption of technology,” Anis remarked. “Southeast Asia promises to become the next high-growth region after the BRIC economies, and Fenox is delighted to be a part of this economic boom.”
Joining Anis at the ensuing panel discussion entitled “Comparing Entrepreneurship in Silicon Valley and Indonesia” were Rama Mamuaya, CEO of DailySocial, Denny Santoso, CEO of, Andi S. Boediman, Director at Ideosource and Arip Tirta, CEO of UrbanIndo. During the session, the audience was given an opportunity to engage in a lively and candid discourse about common problems faced by local entrepreneurs and was presented with practical solutions to solve them.
Led by IMJ and Catcha Digital Asia, the second half of the workshop was dedicated to presentation about specific techniques in branding strategy, digital marketing and customer relationship management for startups. IMJ is Japan’s leader in digital marketing solutions, having worked with prominent clients such as Coca-Cola and Toyota. By lending its expertise in the field, IMJ hopes that local startups could also adopt effective market strategies for customer acquisition and retention. After the session, the workshop concluded with a networking session.
This event marks the first of many to follow as IMJ Fenox works with entrepreneurs in Southeast Asian region. Currently, IMJ Fenox has its headquarters in Singapore, branch office in Japan and a satellite office in Indonesia. It will be investing into startups from the region and growing its operations in the coming months.
